a ONEderful year!

We are both very sad to say goodbye to such a great year, and to your wonderful kids! Will will miss them all dearly! It was a blessing to watch all the transformation that took place over the school year. From timid, new grade 1 students, to confident and beaming students, ready to take on grade 2!  Every one of them grew in so many ways, and we're so glad we got to be a part of it!

Here are some pictures from the last day. First up. . . human knot! The kids got in groups of six, and made a knot with their hands in a circle. Then, they had to figure out how to untangle themselves by twisting and climbing over and under each others' arms/legs {and lots of laughter, of course!}.

But. . . the kids aren't the only ones we're going to miss. All of you moms (and dads!) were absolutely wonderful to work with this year! We couldn't have had the kind of year that we did without your support - for your kids, and for us. Especially Ibu Grace and Ibu Julie! Thanks for offering your time and energy to be our CPRs. You made planning class activities so stress free for us, and we always knew we could count on you! And to all of you who pitched in for our bags, thanks again! We LOVE them!

I hope you have all been enjoying the holiday with your kids. I'm sitting at home with my family, and bragging about this wonderful class :) So again, thanks for being a part of this great year!
Blessings to you all!

Last Day Activities

Can you believe it's the last week of school already?! We're going to be sad to see all of your precious kids move on from our classroom, but excited to see them become the new Grade 2 students of SPH Kemang Village. They will do so great!

To conclude the year, we will be having a Grade 1 potluck on the last day of school in the UG Conference room. ( I think this has been communicated already through the class moms). You are all invited to come and enjoy lunch while spending some time with your child and the other grade 1 students and parents. Lunch will begin at 11:00.

After lunch, our class will be returning to the classroom to decorate T-shirts! Plain white t-shirts and markers will be provided for each student. The kids will get to decorate a shirt, and then get it signed by all their classmates to remember their Grade 1 year! Parents can come to the classroom for this activity if they want, but we will be dismissing students at regular time on Street Level.

Tomorrow and Wednesday we will be sending the kids home with their extra supplies from the year, workbooks, and portfolios. We hope to have most of it home before Thursday, so they won't have to carry it all out on one day.

See you on Thursday! :)

Note: Students should wear their theme shirts on the last day

Outbound!

We had such a fun day at Outbound in Ancol! It was a long bus ride to get there, but the kids were troopers! Something about field trips makes them want to eat their snacks by 7:30 though! We made it there around 9:00, and started getting harnessed by 9:30.

After getting harnesses on, they were led in some group stretches. Then, they hit the course eagerly!

It was great to see all of the kids encouraging each other as they came to difficult sections, or noticed that a friend was nervous. Everyone tried their best, and made it through at least three of the courses. A few of the fast finishers were able to make it all the way through the fourth course too!

Parents, thanks for trusting us to take your kids and suspend them on ropes between trees ;)
